The Hunger Games series - District 12

So this is my first tutorial and I've decided to start off on a series, it's based on the trilogy of books and the first one called The Hunger Games is being made into a film which will be released soon. I admit that I haven't read the books but I do know the story line and I have ordered the books because the trailer looks so amazing. If you don't know the story all you need to know is that it's based on futuristic America called Panem and the Capitol rules over 12 districts that all have different jobs to do for the capitol.

I've started with District 12 because that's where the main character comes from so In the book it focused on a lot. They contribute to the capital by mining, from what I gather they mine mainly coal, so that's what I've based this look on.

I used a lot of dark, smokey colours but tried to even it out with the lighter silver colours for highlights.

Using this paddle brush...

(Gunmetal, from Naked Palette by Urban Decay)
...apply this colour all over the lid...

(Darker colour of Classic Smoke section from the Smokey Eye palette by Urban Decay)
...using the same brush apply this darker colour to the outer and inner corners of the lid...

...using a tapered blending brush like this...

...blend this colour all along the crease...

...using this flat top angle brush...

(Lighter colour of Classic Smoke section from the Smokey Eye palette by Urban Decay)
...apply the lighter colour above the black crease to bring the colour down, apply this colour right up to the brow...

...using this chubby pencil brush apply the colour below right under the brow as a highlight, also drag it down to act as the inner corner highlight...

...using this thin angle liner brush...

...apply this colour to the inner half of the lower lid and line it along the upper lid to lighten the eye...

...apply a black khol eyeliner on the lower and upper water line but be sure to not apply it in the inner corner because you want to keep that as a highlight...

...finally apply a mascara of your choice to the outer corner of your eyes again to keep the highlights light...

(Trace Gold MAC blush)
...apply bronze...

(Desert Rose MAC blush)
...apply blush...

(Brown holographic lip gloss)
...apply lip colour...
